Welcome back to Wayback Wednesday once again! Hope your all well I can not believe it is only two days until my Birthday! It is going to feel so weird this year because I actually have to work!! Usually I book a week off but because of reasons I couldn't this year hashtag dedication lol! As you may of guessed by the title this post is all about when I met the amazing Olly Murs. On Tuesday 5th May last year I got the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Olly Murs! Now I would like to say that I was calm and collected when I received the news but that would be one big fat lie! I quite literally ran into Costa and screamed the whole place down while shaking and crying that my dream was becoming a reality....well one of them! This was all thanks to an amazing competition ran by a publishing company 'Hodder and Stoughton' who published his book back in September. I am usually really unlucky and have never won a competition and as cliche as it sounds I honestly didn't believe that 'normal' people win these competitions. So seriously that next competition you see enter it, you never know it might be your lucky day!
After fighting our way through the London rush hour, trust me literally! We got to the O2 for half Five where we met up with other winners and waited for Jordan (Olly's tour assistant) to take us to the green room. We got to walk all the way round the backstage of the O2 which was pretty cool and as sad as it is I have really wanted to do that for years. It was so surreal and strange walking through the arena when it was totally empty and dead quiet. The green room is so lovely it has sofas and picture frames of previous artists who have held meet and greets and just has a really lovely vibe to it. By this point though I was feeling physically sick with nerves and excitement.
We waited in the room for about 15 minutes before Olly walked in. I was literally shaking by this point and had lost the power to speak! Nice one Sophie! Finally I got to meet Olly and hand on my heart he was the most loveliest down to earth celebrity I have ever met. Literally he was so genuine it was like talking to an old friend, although it was a bit surreal talking about local nightclubs and Southend! Yes you guessed it of course I had a ditzy moment (face palm) I went to give Olly his birthday present and it literally fell out of the bag and across the floor! How embarrassing, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole! Olly was lovely enough to sign my book for me which I was ecstatic about I've wanted it signed for years! My Mum was equally over the moon and was buzzing for ages afterwards (I think she still is) we got so many hugs and kisses, he was so lovely.
I literally can not wait till Olly is back on tour and for his new album hopefully later this year! Has anyone else met Olly before? What was your experience like? I would love to know! So please let me know in the comments below! I hope your all well and enjoyed reading this!
Love Sophie xx
